Old Pteryga LogoOut with the Old . . .

After two years under the old company brand, Pteryga Design, Inc. owner/president decided it was time to do some work to the old design.  Afterall, we are a design firm, so our own corporate brand should have a certain flare to it that the old design just wasn't providing anymore.

We knew that we didn't want to stray too very far from the old design, because we don't want to confuse any client or perspective clients that are familiar with the logo that we were using.  Also, the old design has features that are very much in tune with who we are as a company.

First, I (David Brashears) decided it was time to stylize the Pi symbol in the middle of the logo, and since I'm greatly influenced by eastern design and culture I decided to reflect a Tori gateway with the new design.  Still keeping the look of the Pi symbol (the greek capital "P," since the name Pteryga is greek).  Also, I decided to move the "wing" feature of the character to the top to integrate into the design more fluidly.

Next, I decided to go a little more stylized with the background circles in the company green color.  I moved the center of the circle down and to the right to give movement to the background, it also acted to counter-balance the asymetrical Pi Character by cutting out some area of the background on the same side that the character seems a little heavy.

Finally, I moved away from the old typography. . . the type was just to cumbersome and it really didn't work as universally as I'd like it to.  The new type is much thicker and simpler, meaning that it will work much better on whatever medium and in whatever size I chose to use it.

And that's about it, there's the end-product.  Let us know what you think! New Pteryga Logo
